I purchased one of our first Christmas gifts today and can't wait for it's arrival! I discovered the MacAusland blanket in the A/W Toast catalogue. After a few days of eating and lounging I decided to get to work this afternoon. I got my second needle book prototype finished. This one is an inch taller than the first and I'm trying a button closure instead of the ribbons.

I actually finished a sewing project that I want to wear!! I got this pattern, by Jenny Gordy of wiksten-made, from Stitch Magazine. It was an easy pattern to follow but when I make #2 I'm going to try it in a medium. I've pinned the back waistband for the photos above. You can see other versions of the tulip skirt here.

I made it to devour bistro yesterday for a late lunch and oh did it live up to my expectations! I had Pork Mole with corn pudding and that's Cashew Curry sitting across from me (with my lovely lunch date ofcourse). We also enjoyed homemade herbal sodas and Rhubarb pie and custard. Yum.

This is by no means a food blog but I hadn't picked up my camera until last night's dinner so I thought I'd share. We've been experimenting with fish packets which are a fast and tasty way to combine ingredients. Last night's salmon was adapted from this recipe.

I've had my gocco out this week printing cards and gift tags. I'm pleased with the results but wish I'd started in the warmer months. The gocco inks are old school stinky so lots of airing is required keeping our drafty apartment even cooler. Now I must get to work on hankies and tea towels, I might experiment with some block printing this year. I promise to check in here again soon.

While my 'To do' list has been left unattended I've been enjoying the lake with friends. Yesterday was too warm in our upstairs apartment so a swim followed by ice cream was a great relief. I wanted to get a better shot of these huge ice cream scoops but they were melting before we left the shop.

I'm happy today. The weather has warmed a bit and school has closed for March break. I spent the early evening in the garden and loved working outside until 7pm again! In the coming week I plan on spending time in the backyard and at the drawing/printing/sewing table. I'm making a second Built by Wendy shirt and have lots to do for an upcoming craft fair.

I'm currently learning how to sew and I'm so excited to be making this pattern using fabric I found in a thrift store last year. Tomorrow I hope to use the sewing room at school after hours, it's a great space with huge windows and big work tables. While it's warmed up considerably there is still a chill in our old house at night. Lots of roasting at mealtimes and a growing attraction to soups. I'm also drawn to warm lounge wear and watching movies with my guy. Last night we saw Wristcutters: a love story. I loved this story, and so many of the characters. Making valentine hankies is on my mind now too, I've thought of this for a couple of years and I'm hoping that writing it here will prompt me to do more. I'll let you know.

Today school closed for the winter holidays!! I feel sad to leave the students for two whole weeks but I'm thrilled to be free for this time too. It's still winter in Victoria and more snow seems to be heading our way. I'm planning meals for the next few days so there will be no need to venture into the chaos for a bit. I look forward to snuggling in and feeling cozy at home in the coming days.

It's winter in Victoria!! It snowed over the weekend and it looks like it's staying. I'll be travelling on foot until the streets clear so today, during a slippery hike, I fantasized about my dream boots from duckfeet. I discovered these lovelies through the Swedish blog, Liebling allsorts. They aren't sold in Canada so I'm not able to try them on but I've never been so tempted to take the plunge. We'll see. Winter Break starts in a few short days so I'll post some pics from my most recent crafting adventures once gift exchanges have occurred. Good night.

I'm spending this weekend relaxing and reflecting on this year's Noel Bazaar. It's always such a fun and challenging experience for me and this year was probably my favourite. These are just a few pics from the table I shared with Ms. Rachel Evans, she makes the felt sushi rolls and incredible stuffed and felted creatures. I hope to post more work soon but for now I'm going to do laundry and drink some coffee.

I'm working hard over here getting ready for the craft fair next week. Today I'm working on tea towels and gift tags. I haven't spent much time on this computer as of late so I will be more attentive after winter crafting duties are complete.

I do plan on taking a break some time today to attend Regalia Boutique's Coronation. I can't wait to see this new space focusing mainly on local designers and crafters.
